Thank you for visiting our party advice page, the hints and tips listed here have been collected from hundreds of parties. This advice will help you run a much better event whether you book Rob, or if you are thinking of running the party yourself. I hope it helps make your party a success.

Organising your party
1. Try and get a venue or hall for your party if you can, they are usually very cheap and provide great value for money. Home is great for magic shows and party events but halls really do give the children and yourselves the freedom of space and with a little decoration and effort you can create a great party Venue.

2. Rob gets booked up very quickly so get in your party date before worrying about the hall, there are usually many halls available in your area with many time slots.

3. There is no real ideal number of children to invite at a party or magic show but the most popular number of children at one of Robs regular parties is probably around 20 - 30. The numbers can be more or less and there really is no rule. Rob can advise on numbers for any size of Venue

At the party
4. Set the boundaries from the start of the party. If you are not experienced in dealing with this type of environment I suggest you bring the children into the party calmly and get them doing something ASAP. Get your party off to a good start and don’t leave children chasing after loose balloons unsupervised as you are welcoming other guests at the front door. If you book Rob then a one minute magical warm up is all is needed to get the children in the right frame of mind for the whole party.

Party Food
5. Many parents do far too much food at children’s parties I know from experience because I was one of those parents eating sausage rolls and cocktail sausages days after my sons party. In all the years I have been doing children’s parties the best way I have seen parents do the party food is by getting party boxes and making individual party food packs, the children feel grown up and independent with their own Food Box for their lunch. it’s a big hit at parties and most importantly accurately monitors the amount you need to spend and you will be surprised at just how little you can do it for. Remember excited children at a parties do not want to eat huge amounts.

Party games and entertainment
6. Don’t do Elimination games like musical chairs or where children may be standing out of the game for any length of time. It doesn’t take children long to get bored at a party if they are watching from the sidelines.

7. If you are having a disco, remember that although older and teenage children are very happy with the concept of a standard disco, younger children aged about 4-9 will get bored of a standard disco once they have had a good dance so make sure you have plenty of fun games and prizes and try to create a great feeling of fun and occasion for all the children in the room. Rob has hours of fun games that keep getting better and better as the disco goes on. Young children love discos and with a good entertainer a disco is the perfect entertainment for children aged from 4 - 9.

8. Remember there is a very big difference between a party DJ and a an experienced children’s entertainer.

9. Give the children name badges/stickers, this is such a great help when you are entertaining or directing the games. Rob provides name badges/ stickers for the event within the price of the show.

10. The best way to run a children’s party is to just book Rob then sit down and relax and let me give the children a magical party they will remember.
